Operational Philosophy
The above mixing
equipments was designed to suit the specifications of the existing pumps,
after taking into account the pressure drop restrictions.
The overall operation can be divided in two stages:
Stage 1 -- Formulation
of the product wherein the right quantity of the additive is added to the
base oil.
Stage 2 - Homogenization of the product to achieve uniform concentration level
within the tank.
Please refer to nomenclature in figure for detailed operational philosophy. To start with all the valves are kept open except the recirculation valves RV1 & RV2. The correct proportion of base oil and additive are fed with the Pumps PO & PA. As the two fluid progress through the static mixer , thorough mixing of base oil and additive is achieved. The mixed product then gets filled up in the Blending kettle BK. This completes the formulation step and valves VS1, VS2,VD2 and Pump PA are closed , while the recirculation valves RV1 & RV2 are opened. The base oil pump PA will now do the recirculation operation and the Jet Mixer installed in the tank would completely homogenize the final product to obtain a uniform blend. A separate recirculation pump may be installed for ease of operation, however this is not mandatory.
The above combination of Static Mixer and Jet Mixer offered uniform blending operation for all the batches and also ensured consistent transport and lubrication properties of the final product.
This Hybrid Mixing System was first conceptualised / implemented by Mixrite and is currently in operation at one of the leading lubricant manufacturing plant in India.
Advantages
1. Simple system.
2. No moving Parts for mixing equipments.
3. Consistent output in terms of viscosity index.
4. High Efficiency.
5. Reduced Mixing Time.
6. Better product yield.
